.. A Plan of the Bay of Manila - Anson (1748)

Description: Two maps and a view on one sheet titled 'A Plan of the Bay of Manila [and] A Plan of the Harbour of Acapulco on the Coast of Mexico in ye South Sea [and] A view of the Ladrone Islands'. Detailed plan of Manila Bay and the Port of Acapulco. The maps show two of the principal harbors of the Manila Galleon Trade, along with a profile view of the Ladrone Islands. Originates from G. Anson's 'A voyage round the world (..)'.

Artists and Engravers: Admiral Anson chased a Spanish treasure galleon from Manilla to Acapulco, capturing it in a chance meeting. When he got his haul home 32 wagons were needed to transfer the silver from the port to the Tower of London.
