Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Maps & Prints collects, why, and what your rights are. Last updated 22 September 2026.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is Bartele Gallery, Buorren 3, 8525 EB Langweer, Friesland, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 62049666. For anything to do with your data, email [email protected].
2. What we collect and why

We do not ask for, and do not want, any special categories of personal data. We never see your card or bank details: payment is handled entirely by Mollie.
3. Emails from us
We send you the emails needed for your order or question. If you have bought from us, we may occasionally email you about similar antique maps and prints. You can refuse this at any time, free of charge: every such email has an unsubscribe link, or simply write to us. We do not sell or rent your details to anyone.
4. Who receives your data
We share only what each party needs:
- Mollie B.V. (Netherlands) processes your payment.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and its database and sends our emails.
- The postal or courier service that delivers your parcel (for example PostNL or DHL) receives your name, address and, for express delivery, your phone number.
- When you view a page, your browser loads typefaces from Google Fonts and photographs from the 1stDibs image service, which therefore see your IP address.
- Our accountant and the tax authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: 7 years, as Dutch tax law requires.
- Questions you send us: up to 2 years after our last contact, unless they lead to an order.
- Technical request data: no longer than needed for security, at most 12 months.
6. Cookies
We use only cookies that the shop needs to work: one that remembers the sheets in your basket. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics that follow you across websites.
7. Your rights
You have the right to see the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. You may object at any time to marketing emails. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]; we answer within one month. Some data we must keep for tax purposes even if you ask us to delete it.
If you believe we handle your data wrongly, you may complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), or to the authority in your own country.
8. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to our systems is restricted, and payments are processed by Mollie, not by us.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
