Description: Antique print, titled: '"A Fool to pleasure, yet a Slave to fame".' - Monkeys dressed as people. An excessively dressed lady monkey (with pompadour, frills, curls, and a hat dressed with flowers like a field's edge) shies away from the street-urchin (with broom and dustpan). The 'lady's' pug yaps at the other monkey from underneath her skirt. Marked proof in the lower edge of the image. From 'Monkeyana, or Men in Miniature', 1828.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Thomas Landseer' after own design. Thomas Landseer (1793-1880) was a British artist best known for his engravings and etchings, particularly after paintings by his brother Edwin Landseer.
