Description: Antique print, titled: 'Histoire Sainte. - Ancien Testament. Elie enleve au ciel laisse son manteau a Elisee' - This plate shows a scene from the Old Testament; Elijah throws his mantle from the chariot of fire to Elisha.

From a Rare set of 60 plates showing scenes from the Old Testament of the Catholic Bible, from the creation of Adam and Eve, to the persecution of the Maccabees. Mostly from the books of Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Samuel and Kings, but also from Job, Jonah, Tobias, Esther, Judith, Daniel and Ezechial. Published in Paris: Dezobry et E. Magdeleine (Lithographie Becquet freres) c. 1840.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Henry Jean Becquet' after an anonymous artist. Henry Jean Becquet (1812-1855) was a French lithographer.
