Description: Antique print, titled: 'Temperantia - Fortitudo' - Scarce plate showing Temperance and Fortitude by P. Antoni Puzzi after one of the frescoes Domenico Zapieri painted for the Abbey of Grottaferrata (near Rome). This Abbey was founded by St. Nilus of Rossano and St.Bartolomeus in 1004. The frescoes were commissioned from Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri) by Cardinal Odoardo Farnese; the titular Abbot of this Abbey. The source of this print is: Picturae Dominici Zampierii, vulgo Domenichino, quae extant in sacello sacrae aedi Cryptoferratensi adjuncto tabulis aeneis incisae.(1762). The plates for this work were engraved by F. Bartolozzi, P.A. Pazzi, A. Cappelan and C. Gregori.
