Description: Antique print, untitled. Wonderful allegorical antique hand colored engraving depicting the celebrations of the British victories in America at the conclusion of the French & Indian (Seven Years) War after J. Miller (1763). The print includes figures of the Roman gods around a globe (oriented to show the northeastern Coast of America and the Caribbean), gesturing at North America, watched by George III in classical dress. An allegorical image of America at the top, with a map of North America immediately behind the winged angel. When George III came to the throne in 1760 he inherited Britain's participation in the Seven Years' War. An angel in the center foreground holds a list of the British actions in 1761, including Pondicherry, Belle Isle and Dominica; and 1762, including Martinique, Grenada, St Vincent & St Lucia. Last in the list is Havana, August 12.
Source unknown, to be determined.
