.. Antique Portrait of Francis I by Van Schawberg (1737)

Description: Antique print, titled: 'Franciscus III Lotharingiae - Maria Teresia (…)' - This plate shows portraits of Francis I (1708 - 1765), Holy Roman Emperor and Grand Duke of Tuscany, though his wife effectively executed the real power of those positions. On the right his wife, Maria Theresa of Austria. Francis was the founder of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty. Maria Theresa of Austria (1717 - 1780) was the only female head of the Habsburg Dynasty. She was the Holy Roman Empress, queen of Hungary and Bohemia, and archduchess of Austria.

Source unknown, to be determined.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jean van Schawberg' after an anonymous artist. The engraver Jean H. van Schawberg, who was born in Antwerp in 1717 and died there in 1760, was active mainly in his native town. But it is known that he was active in Cologne too for a limited time.
