Description: Antique print, titled: 'Ferdinand de Tolede. Duc d'Albe.' - Portrait of Fernando Alvarez de Toledo y Pimentel, Grand duke of Alba (1507-1582). Source unknown, to be determined.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Peter de Gunst' after 'Adriaen van der Werff'. Peter de Gunst (1659-1724) was a dutch engraver and draughtsman who engraved many portraits after van der Werff, van Dyck and van Hornhorst. Adriaen van der Werff (1659-1722) was an accomplished Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes from Rotterdam. His brother, Pieter van der Werff (1661–1722), was his principal pupil and assistant.
