Description: Antique print titled 'Edward Seymour Duke of Somerset'. Portrait of Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset KG (1500-1552) was Lord Protector of England from 1547 until 1549 during the minority of his nephew, King Edward VI. He was the eldest brother of Queen Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII. Printed in London by J. & P. Knapton, 1738.

Artists and Engravers: Jacobus Houbraken (1698-1780) was a Dutch engraver and the son of the artist and biographer Arnold Houbraken (1660–1719), whom he assisted in producing a published record of the lives of artists from the Dutch Golden Age. He produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters.
