.. Antique Print of the Royal Coburg Theatre (Old Vic) by Wilkinson (1819)

Description: Antique print titled 'Royal Cobourg Theatre, Surry'. Old print depicting an exterior view of the Royal Coburg Theatre, London. Established in 1818 as the Royal Coburg Theatre, and renamed in 1833 the Royal Victoria Theatre, in 1871 it was rebuilt and reopened as the Royal Victoria Palace. It was taken over by Emma Cons in 1880 and formally named the Royal Victoria Hall, although by that time it was already known as the "Old Vic". This print originates from Wilkinson's two volume work entitled 'Londina Illustrata:Graphic and Historical memorials …in the cities and suburbs of London and Westminster'.

Artists and Engravers: Robert Wilkinson was an early 19th century English printseller and publisher who produced a number of lovely detailed views of London landmarks.
