Description: Antique print, titled: 'The Impotence of the Uniform ("Hence, horrible Shadow! Unreal Mockery, hence!").' - Monkeys dressed as people. In the foreground a monkey pistoleer shies away from a monkey dressed as a ghost (with tablecloth thrown over himself), falling against another. A battle in the background. (The caption is a citation of Shakespeare's Macbeth). From 'Monkeyana, or Men in Miniature', 1828.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Thomas Landseer' after own design. Thomas Landseer (1793-1880) was a British artist best known for his engravings and etchings, particularly after paintings by his brother Edwin Landseer.
