.. Antique Mycology Print of the Suillus Granulatus by Fries (c.1860)

Description: Antique mycology print titled 'Boletus Granulatus'. Suillus granulatus is a pored mushroom of the genus Suillus in the family Suillaceae. It is similar to the related S. luteus, but can be distinguished by its ringless stalk. Like S. luteus, it is an edible mushroom that often grows in a symbiosis (mycorrhiza) with pine. It has been commonly known as the weeping bolete,or the granulated bolete. This print originates from 'Sveriges ätliga och giftiga svampar tecknade efter naturen'. Published in Stockholm, circa 1860.

Artists and Engravers: Elias Magnus Fries (15 August 1794 – 8 February 1878) was a Swedish mycologist and botanist.
