Antique Print of Macao by Nieuhof (1668)

Description: Antique print titled 'Makou'. Old print depicting the Portugese colony under attack by a Dutch fleet. Ships are shown in the harbor firing at the town, with a hillside fort in background responding. This print originates from the Latin edition of Nieuhof's work titled 'Legatio batavica ad magnum Tartariæ chamum Sungteium (..)'. 

Artists and Engravers: Johan / Jan / Johannes Nieuhof / Nieuhoff / Neuhof (1618-1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India.
