.. Antique Print of the Temple of Sang Wan Hab by Nieuhof (1665)

Description: Antique print titled 'Temple de Sang-Won-Hab' on verso: 'Sanyuum'. View of the temple of Sang Wan Hab, China. On verso, a view of a walled settlement called Sanyuum. This print originates from 'Het gezantschap der Neêrlandtsche Oost-Indische Compagnie (..)' by J. Nieuhof. Published by J. van Meurs.

Artists and Engravers: Johan Nieuhof (1618 in Uelsen-1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. The most famous of these was a trip of 2,400 km from Canton to Peking in 1655-1657, which enabled him to become an authoritative Western writer on China.
