Description: Antique print, titled: 'La Rade d'Annobon.' - The coast and harbour of Annobon (nowadays part of New guinea). 'View of the arrival of the Dutch fleet (9 ships) led by Cornelis Matelief de Jonge at Annobon, 1605. Cornelis Matelief de Jonge made a trip for the V.O.C. to the East Indies and China (1605-1608).

This print was published in the 1702 French edition of 'Recueil des voyages ....' translated from the Dutch 1645 edition of 'Begin ende voortgangh van de vereenighde Nederlantsche Geoctroyeerde Oost-Indische Compagnie', the original collection of travel accounts concerning the Dutch East India Company. The Dutch edition is considered as one of the most important Dutch travel accounts published in the 17th century.
