Antique Map of the Franekeradeel Township (Friesland) by Halma (1718)
- Condition: Very good, given age. Edges with some tiny tears. Minimal paper separation in the top and lower edges of the middle fold. Margins with a few soft creases. A few minor spots in the margins. Paper near middle fold slightly browned. Middle fold as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Map of the Franekeradeel Grietenij, part of the Province of Friesland, The Netherlands shows the situation around 1718. Grietenijen later turned into the present day towns. On this detailed map you will find: Franeker, Hitzum, Herbajum, Sweins, Midlum and much more detailed information. With two beautiful cartouches with scale and coat of arms. This detailed original antique map originates from: 'Uitbeelding der Heerlijkheit Friesland ...', by B. Schotanus a Sterringa and published by F. Halma in 1718. This Atlas is considered the best atlas of Friesland, the Netherlands.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Francois Halma' after 'Schotanus a Sterringa'. The author is Bernardus Schotanus a Sterringa (1640-1704). The publisher is Francois Halma (1653-1722). Some of the Grietenije kaarten in this work are signed by Jan and Gaspar Luyken / Luiken as the engravers.
