Description: Antique print, titled: 'Tab 72. Erinaceus.' - Rare original antique print of Erinaceus mushrooms by Petrro Antonio Micheli, printed in 1729 in Florence for 'Nova Plantarum Genera'. There is an engraved dedication to a patron. The accuracy of his illustrations testify to the author's patient and critical observations.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Pier Antonio Micheli' after an anonymous artist. Pier Antonio Micheli (December 11, 1679 – January 1, 1737) was a noted Italian botanist,[1] professor of botany in Pisa, curator of the Orto Botanico di Firenze, author of Nova plantarum genera iuxta Tournefortii methodum disposita. He discovered the spores of mushrooms, was a leading authority on cryptogams, and coined several important genera of microfungi including Aspergillus and Botrytis.
