Set of Three British Harrier Bird Lithographs by Stonham, 1908
A decorative set of three antique bird plates from Charles Stonham’s The Birds of the British Islands, Volume III, published in London by Grant Richards in 1908. The plates show British harriers in finely rendered monochrome tones, each set in a soft natural landscape. Illustrated by Lilian M. Medland, these elegant portrait-format plates work especially well as a balanced wall set for a study, library, country house, hallway, or natural-history interior.
This set brings together three British harriers: the Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier and Montagu’s Harrier. All three plates are from Charles Stonham’s The Birds of the British Islands, illustrated by Lilian M. Medland and published in London by Grant Richards in the early 20th century. The plates are finely rendered in monochrome, with soft natural backgrounds that make them especially decorative as a balanced wall trio.
