Terms of Sale
These terms apply to every purchase from maps-prints.com. Please read them before you order. Last updated 22 September 2026.
1. Who we are
Maps & Prints (maps-prints.com) is the online shop of Bartele Gallery, Buorren 3, 8525 EB Langweer, Friesland, the Netherlands.

2. Our sheets
We sell original antique maps, sea charts and prints. Each sheet is one of a kind: the photographs on the listing show the actual sheet you will receive. We describe age, technique, size and condition as accurately as we can. Antique paper shows its age, and colours on screen can differ slightly from the sheet itself. If anything is unclear, ask us before you buy.
Because our collection is also offered in our gallery and on other platforms, a sheet can very occasionally sell elsewhere at the same moment. If that happens we tell you straight away and refund you in full within five working days.
3. Prices and VAT
All prices are in euros and are final. Our sheets are sold under the margin scheme for antiques and second-hand goods: VAT is included in the price and is not shown separately, and it cannot be reclaimed. Shipping costs are added at checkout (see section 6). If you live outside the European Union, your country may charge import duties or taxes on delivery; these are payable by you.
4. Your order and the contract
You order by placing sheets in your basket, entering your delivery details and paying. The contract between you and Bartele Gallery is formed when your payment is confirmed. You then receive an order confirmation by email. We keep a record of your order and can send you a copy on request.
5. Payment
Payments are handled by Mollie B.V., a Dutch payment service provider. You can pay with the methods Mollie offers at checkout, such as iDEAL, credit card, PayPal and Bancontact. We never see or store your card details. If a payment is not completed, no contract is formed and the sheets are released.
6. Shipping and delivery
Sheets are shipped from Langweer, the Netherlands. Shipping is charged once per order, however many sheets it contains:

Delivery times are estimates from dispatch and are not guaranteed. We ship within three working days of payment. The risk of loss or damage passes to you when the parcel is delivered to you. Please check your parcel on arrival and tell us as soon as possible if anything is damaged, with photographs of the packaging and the sheet.
7. Your right to cancel (withdrawal)
If you are a consumer, you may cancel your purchase without giving a reason within 14 days of the day you receive the sheets.
- To cancel, tell us within those 14 days by email to [email protected], or use the model form below. Any clear statement is enough.
- Send the sheets back within 14 days of telling us, to Buorren 3, 8525 EB Langweer, Friesland, the Netherlands. Pack them flat and securely and insure the parcel for the value of the sheets. You pay the cost of returning the sheets.
- We refund the price of the sheets and the standard shipping cost you paid within 14 days of receiving your cancellation. If you chose express shipping, we refund only the cost of standard shipping. We may wait to refund until the sheets are back with us or you have shown that you sent them.
- We refund using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you.
- Handle the sheets only as you would in a shop. If a sheet comes back damaged, marked, trimmed or framed, we may deduct the loss in value from the refund.
This right to cancel applies to consumers. It does not apply to purchases made in the course of a business.

8. Authenticity and conformity
We guarantee that every sheet is an original, printed in the period we state, and not a reproduction. A certificate of authenticity is available on request. If a sheet does not match its description, you have the rights the law gives you, in addition to the right to cancel above; contact us and we will put it right, by refund if necessary.
9. Complaints
If you are not happy, email us at [email protected]. We reply within 14 days. If we cannot resolve it together, you may take the matter to the competent court.
10. Liability
Our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. This does not limit any rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded.
11. Law
These terms and every purchase are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your own country.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place your order applies to that order.
