Antique Peregrine Falcon Bird Print by Lilian M. Medland, circa 1908
A finely detailed original antique ornithological plate depicting a Peregrine Falcon perched upright on a rocky outcrop.
The bird is shown in a formal natural-history study, with its distinctive dark hood, facial markings, barred plumage and powerful talons carefully rendered. The restrained monochrome palette and delicate tonal modelling give the print an elegant and highly decorative appearance.
The plate was illustrated by Lilian M. Medland for Charles Stonham’s important publication The Birds of the British Islands, published in London by Grant Richards in the early 20th century.
