About this sheet

Antique print titled 'Descendit de Monte Sinai, tenens duas Tabulas in manibus (..)'. Beautiful hand colored engraving of a fresco by Raphael. The title translates to 'Moses Descends from Mount Sinai'. This title does not seem to relate to the print, however, this print is part of a larger fresco in the Vatican. The main panel of the fresco shows Moses coming down from Mount Sinai, holding the tablets bearing the ten words of the Covenant.

This is a rare and very decorative work engraved by Ottaviani, published circa 1775.
