Medan Station, Antique Photogravure by C.J. Kleingrothe, Sumatra c.1900
This original early 20th-century photogravure depicts Medan Station in North Sumatra during the period of rapid colonial development in the Dutch East Indies. Created by photographer C.J. Kleingrothe, who operated his photographic studio in Medan from the 1890s, this work documents the railway infrastructure that supported the booming plantation economy in Deli.
