An exceptional original antique chromolithograph illustrating elegant Louis XVI decorative ornament, published in Paris by Firmin Didot & Cie as part of Albert Racinet's celebrated masterpiece, L'Ornement Polychrome.
This richly detailed plate presents a refined decorative panel inspired by the elegant interiors of the Louis XVI period. The composition features an allegorical medallion with classical female figures framed within an elaborate architectural cartouche, accompanied by floral garlands, ornamental initials, neoclassical borders, scrollwork, trophies of learning, and finely executed decorative motifs. The harmonious palette of warm gold, soft pink, pale blue, olive green, and ivory perfectly reflects the refined aesthetic of late eighteenth-century French interior decoration.
