The composition is arranged around a central circular vignette showing a fashionable woman wearing a broad-brimmed hat and a luxurious fur stole. Surrounding her are individual studies of fur accessories, carefully rendered to emphasize their different textures, shapes and methods of draping.
Several designs are identified in manuscript at the top with the names “Écossaise,” “Suzy” and “Lucette,” suggesting individual models or fashionable styles within a collection.
The restrained palette of black, grey, cream and warm brown gives the work a particularly sophisticated appearance. Both the fashionable silhouette of the central figure and the decorative presentation are characteristic of French fashion design during the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau period.
