Original early 20th-century French fashion illustration by Ferdinand-Léon Ménétrier, depicting an elegantly dressed woman presenting luxurious fur stoles and wraps.
The fashionable model wears a long, slender embroidered gown with a high decorative collar, cinched waist and an elaborate oversized hat characteristic of the Belle Époque. She holds a long fur-trimmed wrap in one hand, while another richly decorated fur garment is dramatically displayed over the back of a chair.
Ménétrier combines fashion illustration with detailed studies of the luxurious textures and decorative patterns of the furs. Executed predominantly in subtle shades of grey, black and cream, the restrained palette gives the work an especially sophisticated appearance.
