.. Antique Master Print 'Nemo Loquebantur' by Bruining (c.1850)

Description: Antique print titled 'Nemo Loquebantur'. Etching on chine collé after the painting by Cornelis Troost. It shows a Dutch interior with a group of Dutch friends gathered in the house of Biberius by night; some men seated around a table, while others are smoking long pipes near the fireplace at right. Part of a series of masterprints published circa 1850.

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Tieleman Cato Bruining’ after ‘Cornelis Troost’. Tieleman Cato Bruining (1807-1877) was a Dutch painter, lithographer and book illustrator. Cornelis Troost (1696-1750) was an 18th century actor and painter from Amsterdam. He is mainly remembered for his works depicting the Amsterdam Theatre, as well as making theatre decorations.
