The composition is divided into three horizontal sections, each depicting a different geological profile. The upper section shows an idealized cross-section of North America, stretching from the Pacific to the Atlantic, with mountain ranges, plains, and subsurface formations carefully rendered. The middle section focuses on Central Europe, illustrating a geological cross-section through the Harz and Thuringian Forest regions, highlighting stratification and tectonic structures. The lower section presents a detailed study of Arthur’s Seat and the coal basin near Edinburgh, offering a more localized and scientifically grounded geological profile.

A dark walnut or ebonized wood frame enhances contrast and gives it a classic, museum-quality presence.
