Soldiers and civilians mingle in the crowd, while curious neighbors lean out of the windows above to watch the event. Haydn himself, frail but smiling, is seen at the doorway or window, acknowledging the gesture. The composition balances architectural detail with the warmth of human interaction, emphasizing the affection and respect felt for Haydn in the final years of his life.
