About this sheet
An exceptional original antique color print depicting La Salle de Billard, Vue d'Ensemble (The Billiard Room, Overall View), from the celebrated Collection Henry d'Allemagne. The composition presents an exquisitely appointed Belle Époque interior, combining historicist decoration, Orientalist influences, and the refined taste of one of France's foremost historians and collectors of decorative arts.
The domed ceiling is richly adorned with painted medallions and classical ornament, while walls hung with arms, books, sculptures, and decorative panels create a sophisticated atmosphere of scholarship and connoisseurship. A striking cast-iron stove anchors the left side of the room, balanced by an elegant chaise longue and an extraordinary blue floral carpet inspired by Eastern textile traditions. Through the doorway, further rooms unfold, emphasizing the grand scale and carefully curated nature of the residence.
The plate captures the eclectic decorative spirit of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when collectors such as Henry-René d'Allemagne combined Renaissance, classical, and Oriental influences within their interiors. As both a documentary record and a highly decorative work of art, the print appeals equally to collectors of architectural history, interior design, and the Orientalist movement.
This is an original antique print and not a modern reproduction. The work is sold unframed. Any framed images or interior visualizations are intended solely as inspiration and presentation ideas; proportions and scale are not always exact.
Condition: Minor age-related toning and light foxing consistent with age. Small binding remnants along the upper edge as issued. Overall a highly attractive impression with excellent color retention and strong decorative appeal.
