This original Japanese woodblock print from the late Edo period, circa 1790, depicts a tranquil mountain landscape accompanied by a poetic inscription. The composition features a red-lacquered pavilion perched on a rocky outcrop, overlooking a cascading waterfall that winds through a lush, autumnal valley. The soft green and red tones, accented by finely drawn lines, capture the serenity and subtle grandeur of Japan’s countryside in fall.
The upper portion of the print contains a calligraphic poem in elegant script, likely a waka or kanshi verse, reflecting on the changing season, the sound of flowing water, and the beauty of nature.
