Oblong Woodsia, Marsh Fern and Mountain Fern – Botanical Triptych, 1873
This refined triptych brings together three distinct British fern species, each illustrated with clarity and botanical precision, and combined here as a visually harmonious wall set. From left to right, the plates depict the Oblong Woodsia (with an additional round-leaved woodsia form shown for comparison), the elegant and softly spreading Marsh Fern, and the bold, upright Mountain Fern with its strong central structure.
