Rembrandt at the Easel – Hand-Colored Lithograph by W.F. Hoevenaar, Utrecht, c.1850

A beautifully hand-colored 19th-century lithograph depicting the legendary Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn in his studio, standing before a canvas with palette and brushes in hand. Rendered with exquisite attention to period detail, the composition evokes a romanticized image of the 17th-century artist in the midst of creation.

Drawn by Willem Ferdinand Hoevenaar (1808–1863), a Dutch painter and illustrator known for his historical and genre scenes, and printed by P.W. van de Weijer in Utrecht. This lithograph is a fine example of Dutch printmaking from the mid-1800s, balancing precise linework with delicate hand-applied color.
