Description: Antique print, titled: 'Hasselt, Vollenhoven, Oldenseel' - Bird's eye view of Hasselt, Vollenhove at the Zuiderzee, Ijsselmeer and Oldenzaal. This old antique print originates from from "Thooneel der Steden ende Sterckten van 't Vereenight Nederlandt met d'aengrensende Plaetsen soo in Brabandt Vlaenderen als anden Rhijn en elders verovert door de Waepenen der Groot-moghende Heeren Staeten onder het gheley vande seer Edele Hooghghebore Princen van Oranien", Antwerpen, 1680. This work is quite scarse and rarely offered for sale. The views are attractive with panoramic impressions of the cities set in a romantic rural or maritime scene.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gasper Bouttats' after 'J. Peeters'. Gaspar Bouttats (1625-1695) was a Flemish engraver from Antwerp, mostly working for book publishers. His students include his children Jan Frans and Isabelle and Adriaen van Bloemen.
