This original handcolored copperplate engraving features four species of reptiles and amphibians, showcasing their unique anatomies and natural postures. The plate is taken from Friedrich Johann Bertuch’s Bilderbuch für Kinder (Picture Book for Children), a 12-volume encyclopedia published between 1790 and 1830, celebrated for its artistic and educational contributions to natural history.
