An exceptional set of three original antique chromolithographs illustrating Renaissance religious ornament and architectural decoration, published in Paris by Firmin Didot & Cie as part of Albert Racinet's celebrated masterpiece L'Ornement Polychrome.
These richly detailed plates beautifully combine Renaissance architectural ornament with Christian iconography, including saints, biblical figures, putti, ecclesiastical decoration, ornamental cartouches, illuminated manuscript-inspired motifs, and finely executed architectural borders. Together they illustrate the extraordinary artistic richness of European Renaissance decorative arts and the close relationship between religious imagery and ornamental design during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
Produced using the finest nineteenth-century chromolithographic printing techniques, the plates display remarkable color, precision, and craftsmanship.
