This delightful antique print, titled Katzen und Hunde (Cats and Dogs), was published around 1909 in the popular German series Deutsche Bilderbogen für Jung und Alt (German Picture Sheets for Young and Old). The sheet presents a series of small vignettes, each hand-colored and illustrating playful, affectionate, and sometimes mischievous interactions between cats and dogs.
Among the scenes are humorous portrayals such as a curious puppy being introduced to a cat, a protective mother cat with her kittens, a loyal dog at rest, and groups of animals sharing food, playing in the yard, or enjoying the comforts of home. Each vignette is finely drawn, capturing both the individuality and character of the animals with charm and warmth.
