Condition

Wear consistent with age and use. General age-related toning. Minor wear and soiling. Tab VII and LXX show a few small tears. Small pieces of tape on verso, otherwise blank. Please study images carefully.

About this sheet

Set of four original antique prints of various insects including the grain weevil, human flea, human louse, the great water scorpion, Surinam water scorpion, harlequin beetle and the sabertooth longhorn beetle. These prints originate from 'Bilderbuch fur Kinder' by F.J. Bertuch. Friedrich Johann Bertuch (1747-1822) was a German publisher and man of arts most famous for his 12-volume encyclopedia for children illustrated with 1,200 engraved plates on natural history, science, costume, mythology, etc., published from 1790-1830.
