“The fighting began on August 20 along the entire line. On August 21, in a truly heroic manner, our troops stormed and captured the fortifications of the Donon that were defended by the French. Under the leadership of the brave Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria, fighting and victory extended along the entire line from Metz to the Vosges. Eight French army corps took part in the battle; all were forced to retreat and fled in complete disarray. More than 10,000 prisoners were taken and over 50 guns were captured.”

Printed on thin wartime paper, as issued. Light overall toning and gentle surface wear consistent with age and original ephemeral use. Soft handling creases and minor edge wear visible; no major losses. Overall very good condition for a First World War illustrated sheet of this type.
Framing suggestions:
Highly decorative when float-mounted to show the full original sheet. We recommend a neutral or warm grey mat with a walnut, oak, or black frame to balance the strong colors. Museum glass advised due to the thin paper. Works particularly well as a large statement piece in libraries, studies, or contemporary interiors seeking historical visual contrast.
