This copperplate engraving depicts a striking view of Bartanico (possibly Patmos or another fortified location in the Aegean Archipelago). The scene features an imposing hilltop fortress with domes and towers, surrounded by ships navigating the choppy waters. Figures in the foreground observe the bustling maritime activity, while additional fortifications and structures can be seen in the distance. Attributed to Jan Peeters as the delineator and published by Jacob Peeters, this engraving captures the strategic and cultural importance of Bartanico during the late 17th century.
Condition: Good condition with clear impressions and strong detail. Light foxing and minor handling marks are visible, particularly in the margins. Slight edge wear but leaving the engraving’s visual quality intact.
