Excellent: Bright and clean, with no faults worth mentioning.
Very good: Only light signs of age, such as faint toning.
Good: Normal signs of age for a sheet of this period: toning, some foxing, small marks or neat old repairs.
Fair: Clear faults such as staining, tears or repairs, priced to match.

About this sheet

Antique map titled 'Province XIII Quang-Si. Drawn on the spot by ye Peres de Tartre & Cordoso in the year 1714'. Old map of the Chinese province Quang-Si. Originates from the Edward Cave folio edition of 'A description of the Empire of China and Chinese tartary (..)'. An important encyclopedic work on Chinese culture, history and society, by a French Jesuit who specialized in China. Du Halde's work inspired great interest in China among Europeans, and was a ground breaking work in geography.
