Published in London in 1749 by Thomas Jefferys, the print belongs to a celebrated series documenting global costumes.
The figure is shown wearing a heavy fur-trimmed robe, layered over flowing garments, with a richly decorated chest panel indicating status. The subdued palette of browns, greens, and soft blues is enhanced by delicate hand coloring, giving warmth and depth to the composition.
