Inhabitants of the Landes on Stilts, France – Hand-Coloured Lithograph
This distinctive plate shows two inhabitants of the Landes region in southwestern France, depicted standing on traditional wooden stilts once used to traverse marshland terrain. The unusual subject matter makes this one of the most recognisable and conversation-starting images in Wahlen’s series.
