Elegant original hand-colored equestrian lithograph depicting “Ein Englisches Pferd – Equus Angliae,” engraved and published by the celebrated Swiss artist Karl Joseph Brodtmann around 1816. The print originates from the renowned natural history series Naturhistorische Bilder Gallerie aus dem Thierreiche, one of the most refined and visually striking animal publications of the early 19th century.
This composition portrays a spirited English horse in an animated classical riding pose, mounted by a finely dressed rider in Regency-era attire. The horse is rendered with remarkable anatomical precision and elegance, displaying the refined qualities associated with the celebrated English riding horse breeds admired throughout Europe during the Romantic period.
