Copper engraving of a deer which was found dead in the year 1736. This print originates from 'Abbildungen der jagtbaren Thiere mit derselben angefuegten Faehrten und Spuhren (..)' by J.E. Ridinger.
Artists and Engravers: Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is one of the most famous German engravers of animals, in particular horses, hunting scenes and dogs. He was trained in painting by Resch and Falch, and was taught engraving by Georg Philipp Rugendas.
