DESCRIPTION
Large and highly decorative engraving depicting a complex mythological scene populated by classical gods and allegorical figures, arranged across a dramatic landscape with clouds and celestial elements above. The composition is after ancient sculptural reliefs recorded by Bernard de Montfaucon in his monumental work Antiquity Explained and Represented in Sculptures, first published in the early 18th century.
