This remarkable 19th-century chromolithograph presents a panoramic view of Jerusalem as seen from the road to Bethany. The print originates from the 1862 publication *De Middelaar God en der Menschen - Tafereelen uit Jezus' Leven en Werk op Aarde* by J.J.L. Ten Kate, published by Gebroeders Kraay in Amsterdam. The composition is based on an original plate by the acclaimed British artist David Roberts (1796–1864), whose celebrated depictions of the Holy Land remain some of the most sought-after and historically significant representations of biblical landscapes.
The scene captures the iconic city of Jerusalem in the distance, with its fortified walls, domes, and minarets rising above the surrounding hills.
