Condition
Small tears and dirt on the wrinkled edges of the sheet. Triffle browned and dust soiled, mostly on the outer margins. Hand coloured in bright and beautiful colors. Some dust soiling in the clouds in the top. Study the image carefully.

One nicely hand colored print of an original serie of 23 plates, showing soldiers discussing matters in a village. published in 1833. Rare.
From a serie of beautiful lithographed plates with Belgian military costumes after Madou and printed by Dero-Becker. Comes from a Belgian military costume album, dedicated to the Belgian King, and financed by subscribers, some 90 Belgian nobility and officers of the Belgian Army.
All plates show animated groups of military men in all the various uniforms, including the Belgian "gendarmerie," the national police force, and the administrative personnel of the Belgian army and navy, and all plates are very attractively and brightly washed and coloured by hand.
