Antique plan titled 'Plan de l'Isle de Goree

The island of Gorée lies off the coast of Senegal, opposite Dakar. From the 15th to the 19th century, it was the largest slave-trading centre on the African coast.

Artists and Engravers: Jakob van der Schley (Amsterdam 1715-1779) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver. He studied under Bernard Picart and became heavily influenced by his style.

Condition: Good, given age. Light vertical crease left of middle fold. A small stain in the middle of the sheet (left of middle fold). Original middle fold as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study image carefully.
