Description: Antique map titled 'Borneo Insula.' A small early 18th century map of Borneo Island, Indonesia. With compass rose and scale. This map originates from 'Recueil des Voyages, Des Indes Orientales, Formee dans les Provinces Unies des Pais-Bas' (7 volumes) published in Amsterdam between 1702 and 1706. This map is from Volume 2 of the Voyages and is copied from the much earlier version of the map originally published by Theodore de Bry in 1613.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Rene Augustin Constantin de Renneville' after an anonymous artist. Rene Augustin Constantin de Renneville (1650-1723) a French writer who edited translated Issac Commelin’s Dutch travel accounts.
